Five steps to help protect and improve your mental health and well being.

1) DEVELOP SELF-AWARENESS.

Make time for yourself. Spend time being aware; monitoring and reflecting on yourself as well as any stress you may be experiencing. Try to identify the trigger for any mood or anxiety changes so that you can have strategies in place to respond to these triggers.

2) SELF-CARE.

Allow yourself to step back and do something to show kindness to yourself. Recharge your batteries and regularly set aside time for you! Get time outdoors and observe nature and your surroundings.

3) SEEK HELP EARLY.

Do not wait! Early intervention is key. It may prevent a long term diagnosis. Also, if you learn strategies from early on and build your social and emotional skills, this can discourage further risky behaviours. Seek help early so that you can get the specialist intervention you need.

4) PRACTICE GRATITUDE.

Try to be reflective and thankful for life. Start a gratitude journal or a gratitude jar where you add what you are thankful for. Look back at these affirmations as this helps to increase mental strength.

5) TALK ABOUT IT.

Talk to people. Speak about yor worries, your concerns and the things that frustrate or upset you. Talking about it helps to release some of your stresses. Talking is not a sign of weakness but a sign that you are willing to take charge of well being.
